Calea Bio

Calea, formed in 2005 out of bands Fubar and Mindflayer, are an, [[Experimental]]/[[Progressive Metal]] Band, most notable for their heavy vocals, complex song structure, musicality, and, with the addition of Tim Bura in 2008, the use of [[saxophone]] in heavy metal music.
Calea was formed by Vocalist Tom Petecca, Guitarist Michael Proverdi (Both formerly of Funk Metal Band, Fubar), along with Bassist Patrick Smith and Drummer Marc C (Both formerly of Mind Flayer). Formed as a straightforward Heavy Metal band, the foursome received some success before adding Guitarist Anthony Stavola (Formerly of [[Punk]] Group High Anxiety) in the Winter of 2006.
With the duo of guitarists, Calea began to incorporate some progressive elements into their repertoire, while taking influence from bands such as [[Lamb of God]], [[Messhuggah]], [[Dillinger Escape Plan]] and [[Mastodon]].
In early 2008, due to artistic differences, Calea and Drummer Marc C split ways. Shortly following the exit of Marc, Calea enlisted Drummer Keith Caylor (formerly of [[Funk]]/[[Jam Band]] The B Movie Stars).
In mid 2008, while looking to expand their sound and their musical palate, Calea began using saxophone in song writing processes. Ultimately leading to the addition of Saxophonist, Tim Bura.
With the addition of Bura, Calea quickly headed into Star Sound studio, self-funding their own EP, which would later become known as [[Arecibo]].
In the summer of 2008, supporting their debut EP, Calea hit the road with Boston [[Hardcore]] group Metachomatic.
